WHO'S HOUSE...

During tyhe summer the Bulls junior team has undergone a face-lift with 8 former cadet players joining the ranks, juniors who have been moved from position, and quite some rookies being integrated in the squad.
This Sunday’s scrimmage against the Black Angels and the Tigers gave the Bulls’ Coaching staff the opportunity to asses their juniors, the overall gameplan and the level of play. During the past few months we gave them the tools to play some exciting football. It was now up to them to come onto the stage and prove to us what they are made of and what they are capable of playing the game.
Mixing a solid running game with a decent and structured passing game we were able to keep the Angels defence on their toes making it very dificult for their defense to anticipate our moves. Mike, Gabe, Ced and Arnaud made the passing game look easy. Nike & Youice headed the steamrolling running game.
The Angels strong running game definitely caught our hungry defense of guard on several occasions with # 22 Quentin DEREIN zig-zagging and cutting through our defense like a hot knife in butter. But our hard hitting linebacker corps got in the way of some great potential TD scoring runs. The Bulls secondary was sharp enough to counter attack the legendary Angels Air Attack and provided sufficient answers to their less then usual versatile offensive game.
The Angels have a great potential and a lot of raw quality players who will develop during the season. A big up to their back-up QB, Brice who had to carry the weight and pressure that come’s along with being last years number 1 team in the country.
The end score was 28 – 33 for us.
We had little time to rest before confronting a fresh looking Tiger team with a lot of rookies.
We didn’t change our game plan. Hard hitting football with razlle-dazzle passes coloured our offensive force. A great and solid defensive play caused 2 TD’s on interceptions and stole the show with some nice tackles. But the Tigers were able to confuse the defense enough to score 3 TD’s and some nice passing plays by Neto backed-up by Lenny (I think) who had a great game. There is definitely alot of potential.
We kept up the pressure and finished the game off by winning 47-18.
On a personal note it was great to see that the Tigers have worked hard to develop a junior programme. Good job to Boule for all the effort. Think about this. We had about 80 + players on the field…It is very promissing for the Brussels All Stars !
Although it was a mere pre-season scrimmage / practice game, the intensity and electricity was immense. The healthy rivalry between the Brussels teams is definitely still alive and kicking like in the old days where PRIDE was at stake. But don’t worry we know the season hasn’t started yet. We haven’t won the war yet. Tigers and Angels will want sweet revenge. The only thing we won is a psychological batlle of who’s team is numer 1 in Brussels…. « Who’s house ? »
